Strength and Hope in a Time of Tragedy

At the end of another tragic week in our country, 65-70 students from the Five College Area (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, UMass Amherst & Smith) gathered at for a Black Campus Ministries worship night.  While this event had been in the works before the tragedies happened, it served to be a timely space for black students and allies to gather together before the Lord.

Given the events related to racial tensions at Yale University, University of Missouri, Amherst College, and other institutions across the country in the past few weeks, in addition to the recent outcries in Chicago over the wrongful killing of Laquan McDonald, we, BCM NE staff, have found it appropriate to offer a statement on these issues.
